What are little boys made of?

I admit it. My Etsy shop is very girly. I have two little girls after all! But I do occasionally make boy-friendly items. Like this. And this.

Last month, a customer approached me and requested a custom order for her two sons. Specifically a car and a truck on a personalized hoop. I asked her if she had a specific image in mind and she sent me two rough sketches of what she was looking for. (I love it when a customer knows exactly what she wants!) Then we narrowed down felt colors: I photographed a couple of colors in the general ballpark of the colors she requested and she picked her favorites.

The color scheme was a soft gray background with light blue and navy felt applique.

After a few more questions, I was ready to make the hoops.

I used  contrasted stitching on the dump truck to add detail. The car was a little simpler with stitching that matched the felt.  The names were in a medium blue that popped nicely against the soft grey. It was really fun to collaborate with her in this way!

So what are boy themed hoop arts would you like to see? I’ve started a running list of motifs. If you have one to add, please leave a comment! Or if you really like one of the ones lists, let me know too.

Thanks for stopping by!
