My Creative Space

If you read my Featured Shop interview on the Etsy Blog in December (I hope you will check it out :), you saw a glimpse of me, my creative space and my creative process.

This photo was taken several months before the Featured Shop Interview to include with my product photos in my Etsy shop.

When I was preparing my interview for the feature, taking the photos was a bit challenging for me. Not because I don’t love photography. Because I do! But I usually don’t have the camera pointed at myself.

Another issue was my creative space. Although I am lucky enough to have my own office where I keep my computer along with my supplies, tools and books, I do the majority of my work in the living room. I snuggle up on the couch, usually with my husband nearby and a good movie or TV show fired up on Netflix. (We can’t sit on the same couch, because of all my stuff!) So my working studio is actually my living room. Or sometimes, I work while my little ones are doing homework or playing (sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly by side).

All photos of me were taken by my husband, Jamie.

And my office was definitely not camera-ready at the time (I am in need of room makeover).

So after some tidying up and rearranging, I decided to use my living room as my backdrop for my photos. Not only does it have lots of natural lights, but I had already set up some of embroidery hoop on the wall.

This one didn’t make it onto the Blog, but I love that you can see some of work in the background and foreground.

As you can imagine, I took way more photos than was allowed in the Featured Interview, so I’d love to share with you even more peeks into my creative space, my materials and how I create on a daily basis.

My favorite materials to work with is felt, specifically wool-blend felt from Benzie or GiantDwarf (both Etsy sellers). I collect felt. I love the rainbow of colors. The feel and texture. The coziness.

A close second favorite is yarn. Although I know how to knit on a rudimentary level, you will hardly see me with knitting needles in my hand.
